Sunway-Rapid KL Good Run 2024 drew some 10,000 enthusiastic runners to Sunway City Kuala Lumpur.

The run is yet another initiative of Sunway’s year-long 50th anniversary celebration, which is taking place on Southeast Asia’s first specially-designed elevated Bus Rapid Transit lanes.

More than RM430,000 has been raised to benefit five charitable organisations in the country.

Flagging off the Sunway-Rapid KL Good Run was Subang Jaya state assembly person YB Michelle Ng, alongside Sunway Group CEO of Digital and Strategic Investments Evan Cheah, Sunway Healthcare Group president Dato’ Lau Beng Long, Prasarana Malaysia President & Group CEO Encik Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah, Rapid Bus Chief Operating Officer Encik Ku Jamil Zakaria, Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) Deputy Secretary Ismail Salim, Sunway Healthcare Group Managing Director of Hospital & Healthcare Operations Dr. Khoo Chow Huat, Sunway Group Chief Brand Strategy Officer Puan Nik Tasha Nik Kamaruddin, Rapid Bus Head of Central Region Encik Khairul Azhar Hamidullah, and Subang Jaya District Police Chief YDH ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat.

YB Michelle Ng raised the importance of such CSR initiatives in community engagement, saying, “Events like the Sunway-Rapid KL Good Run are vital for fostering community spirit and empowering community engagement, contributing to the nation’s overall well-being and sense of togetherness.”

The run featured three categories: 21.1KM half-marathon, 10KM, and 5KM.

All proceeds generated from the event will go towards supporting five charitable organisations for a good cause; namely UNICEF, Generating Opportunities for the Learning Disabled (GOLD), National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Women of Will (WOW), and Rumah Perlindungan Darul Ukhwah.

The run also featured a vibrant race village at Sunway Geo Avenue, where participants and spectators enjoyed various fun and educational booths from Sunway Theme Parks, Sunway Healthcare Group, Sunway Property, UNICEF, Rapid KL, and more.

The race concluded with a prize-giving ceremony and mock cheque presentations to the five beneficiaries.

Dato’ Lau Beng Long, President of Sunway Healthcare Group, said; “Sunway Healthcare Group is passionate about the health of our communities, touching lives from the cradle to the elderly. With the rise of non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, obesity and diabetes, we need to emphasise the importance of a healthy lifestyle more than ever. Hence, we’re pleased to support this Run which encourages the young and old to be physically active, with the proceeds of the Run to be donated to those in need.”

Encik Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Bus, said “We are proud to partner with Sunway Group this year for the Sunway-Rapid KL Good Run 2024, timely with Rapid KL’s 20 years anniversary. This has given us the opportunity be part of an important cause in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, while strengthening our brand connection with the community.”
