Sunway has recently expanded its #SunwayforGood beyond its headquarters in Malaysia, and into Vietnam.
In line with the United Nations’ first Sustainable Development Goal – Zero Poverty – to reduce income inequality, Sunway Hotel Hanoi recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Quynh Hoa Charity Vocational Training Centre in Vietnam to support underprivileged youths from all over Vietnam including the disabled, the homeless and Agent Orange victims.
The project will allow the youngsters to earn a regular income by providing a steady customer base for the training centre’s quilling handicraft such as pictures, cards and jewellery boxes.
Selected products will be presented as souvenirs to hotel guests and also displayed for sale at the hotel lounge.
Meanwhile, Kelab Sosial Sunway (KSS) collaborated with Sunway Hotel Hanoi to organise a half-day CSR event to visit the Hanoi Nursing Centre for Elderly and Disabled Children, a home for children and old folks affected by physical or mental disabilities.
Besides spending time getting to know the caretakers and residents over a mid-morning tea party, the Sunway team also entertained the children with games and threw a surprise birthday celebration for them.
KSS made a total contribution of RM15,000 towards the nursing centre, with the funds used to purchase daily necessities such as a chiller, wall fans, mattresses, toys, groceries and toiletries.
The 4-star Sunway Hotel Hanoi first opened its doors in 1998, offering business and leisure travellers Vietnamese hospitality infused with Malaysian warmth, as well as amenities of international standard.
